Personal Insurance by law in almost every state has an exclusion
that will not cover you while at work for a work sustained injury
that is why they are insisiting you get wc insurance your insurance
will not cover you for a work related injury that you encure at
work doing your job for the record Medicare and medic-aid have the
same rules in all 50 states you need to purchase a policy that
covers your husband for work related injuries while he is at work
the general contrator is correct to require this so that his
liability is limited shoudld your husband be injured while on his
job site Your employer's insurance will not cover your husband for
any injury he incures while at work that is why you must have a
seperate policy I wuld suggest your husband purchase business
insurance fron an agent and in the business insurance agent will
then be able to write him a worker' comp policy to cover both him
and any other person who he may be liabel for while on the job ; as
it stands now the way you have discrbed it your husband is not
insured for any injury on the job and thus would/may not be able to
recieve the care he would need if he were injured Public aid and
medic-aid all specifically state in the paperwork they do not cover
work-related injuries if by chance they did pay for some emergency
care your husband needed they would be the first one to be able to
attach any assets you might have from a law suit or property you
would own to pay for the care thus the best thing you can do is run
to the nearest agent and buy contractors business and worker comp
insurance to cover your husband while employed if you have other
questions please contact me via private- e-mail thanks
