Post: Car repo

My spouse and I currently voluntarly had our car repo. The
finace company tuned our account over and said we had to
worlk with them to make payments. We offered a resonable
payment ( my spouse has been layed off and it was hard to
pay the car payment) My spouse just got back to work and
were trying to catch up on some other bills. Well any ways
the company refused or offer and would not work with us
they said for the first 3 monthhs we had to pay X amount
and then after that we had to pay our old car payment until
ther loan was paid off. My question is can they do that
because if we could have afforded the payment we would have
never gave the car back. We live in Michigan if that helps
